2025-06-02 Release Notes

Updated over a week ago

This release includes improvements to auto-tagging for non-VA cases, system stability after prolonged use, and better handling of document dates.

1. Auto-Tagging Now Supports Non-VA Law Slates

Auto-tagging is now available for organizations outside VA law:

  • When a case is created without a Ratings Decision Codesheet (RDCS), the system will now apply only generic tags relevant to that legal domain.

  • These tags are defined per slate and do not require the presence of a condition/topic model like VA cases.

  • This ensures that non-VA organizations can still benefit from tagging automation, even without RDCS-based workflows.

2. Regenerate Expired Document Links Automatically

The system now detects and replaces expired pre-signed S3 URLs when a user tries to access a document after a prolonged period:

  • If a link expires (e.g., after 1+ hour), the frontend will request a new URL from the backend and reload the file. This update applies to both PDF views and file exports.

3. Facts Tab: Viewer Position Restored on Close

Resolved an issue where, after closing the PDF viewer, the selected fact would scroll out of view. The system now keeps the selected fact in place, helping users maintain context while working between tabs.

4. Process Filenames Without Dates (Non-VA Law)

The system can now handle filenames that do not include dates, which is common in non-VA legal domains:

  • If multiple dates are found in the filename, the oldest is used.

  • If no recognizable date is found, the current date is applied.

  • This change ensures consistency and flexibility when working with document types outside of VA formats.

5. Real-Time Updates to Case Pages

  • Adding or removing tags now refreshes the filter list automatically.

  • Changes to the Ratings Decision Codesheet or a re-run of auto-tagging will update the case summary without needing to reload the page.

6. Improved Load Time for Fact Timeline View

Users should now experience faster response times when accessing long or complex case timelines.
