What Are Case Summary and Tag Summaries

Updated today

CaseScribe includes Case Summary and Tag Summaries to help you quickly understand a case without manually reviewing every document or fact.

These features are designed to give you a faster, structured view of the case and help identify key issues, evidence, and potential gaps.

What Is the Case Summary?

The Case Summary provides a high-level overview of the case based on key facts and documents.

It helps you quickly assess:

  • What conditions have been claimed

  • What decisions have been made

  • What issues may still be pending or appealable

  • The overall status of the case

This allows attorneys and reviewers to understand the case at a glance without needing to manually piece together information from multiple documents.

Key Features of Case Summary

Quick Access to Important Information

  • The combined rating is clearly displayed and easy to find

  • Key case details are organized into a structured summary

Direct Navigation to Documents

  • You can click into documents directly (such as Rating Decision Code Sheets)

  • This makes it easy to verify information without leaving the summary view

Integrated AI Access

You can launch AI directly from:

  • The Case Summary tab

  • Tag filters

  • The global Ask AI button

This allows you to immediately explore or expand on the summary using AI.

Real-Time Updates

The Case Summary updates automatically when changes are made, including:

  • Adding or removing tags

  • Re-running auto-tagging

  • Updating rating decision data

There is no need to refresh the page manually.

What Are Tag Summaries?

Tag Summaries provide a focused summary of evidence for a specific condition or topic.

Instead of reviewing a long list of individual facts, you’ll see a concise summary at the top of each tag.

What Tag Summaries Show

For each condition or tag, the summary highlights:

  • Key facts supporting the condition

  • A high-level overview of the evidence

  • Potential gaps in documentation

For example, if a condition has many related facts, you can still review each one individually, but the summary helps you understand the overall picture much faster.

How Tag Summaries Help

Tag Summaries are designed to:

  • Reduce time spent reviewing large fact sets

  • Help evaluate the strength of evidence for a condition

  • Identify missing evidence or areas that may need development

  • Support better decision-making before submission or appeal

Working With Tags

  • Tags are clickable and take you to a filtered view in the Fact Timeline

  • Tags are sorted alphabetically by default, with options to change sorting

  • Selecting a tag allows you to review both the summary and the underlying facts

Where to Find Tag Summaries

Tag Summaries are available in the Case Summary tab.

  • Open a case

  • Navigate to the Case Summary

  • Click on a tag with attached facts

The summary will appear at the top, followed by the full list of related facts.

Summary

The Case Summary gives you a structured, high-level view of the entire case, while Tag Summaries help you quickly understand the evidence tied to specific conditions. Together, these features reduce review time, improve clarity, and help you identify key issues and evidence gaps more efficiently.
