How to Reprocess Failed CAPRI Documents

Are your documents labeled as CAPRI still failing to process, even after multiple attempts to restart or re-upload them?

Try the workaround below.

Why Do CAPRI Documents Fail?

CaseScribe uses a separate OCR (Optical Character Recognition) process specifically designed for CAPRI documents to help speed up processing.

However, some documents, particularly scanned files or pages containing images, may not be handled correctly by this specialized process. When this happens, the document may fail to process, resulting in a failed CAPRI record.

How to Reprocess a Failed CAPRI Document

The recommended workaround is to delete the failed document in Casescribe, rename the original file, and upload it again using a different filename.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the case in CaseScribe.

  2. Locate and delete the failed CAPRI document.

  3. Find the original document on your computer.

  4. Rename the file and remove the word CAPRI from its filename.

  5. Upload the renamed document to the same case.

  6. Allow CaseScribe to process the document again.

Example: Rename the File

Instead of using the original filename:

00010-CAPRI-20250208-6EA44AB4-8A90-4D9A-7B94-3DA2F8E87C2A.pdf

Try using another filename, such as:

00010-VAMC Record-20250208-6EA44AB4-8A90-4D9A-7B94-3DA2F8E87C2A.pdf

Other suggested filenames include:

  • VAMC Record.pdf

  • Medical Record.pdf

Important: Avoid using the word CAPRI in the filename. Renaming the document helps CaseScribe process it through the standard document OCR workflow instead of the specialized CAPRI process.

This is a workaround for documents that fail under the CAPRI processing workflow.
